Mercury Removal - SorbsterTM Hg Media

THE PROBLEM:

  • Mercury in water affects fertility, blood pressure regulation, heart disease and variable heart-rate
  • 4.9 million women of childbearing age have elevated mercury levels
  • Traces of mercury are now appearing in blood banks and could become the next ‘PCB’ crisis

THE SOLUTION: SorbsterTM Hg Media

  • Granular, highly engineered media
  • Chemisorbs the contaminants creating a non-hazardous disposal option
  • Passes TCLP test

Applications:

SorbsterTM Hg media can be used in the following applications:

  • Contact time of less than 1 minute allows for a variety of contacting applications
  • Packed beds
  • Pre-coat filters
  • Fluid beds
  • Canisters

Standard Solution Results:

On a standard solution of 1,000 ppb concentration (mercury), SorbsterTM Hg media accomplishes the following:

FASTER: Contact time is less than 2 minutes.

CHEAPER:  ~500 lbs of media for every 1 pound of mercury removed

GREENER: 1,000 bed volume and used media passes TCLP test resulting in non-hazardous disposal option.

CLIENT RESULTS

Testing completed on various water samples with our SorbsterTM Hg media resulted in:

  • 3,000 parts per trillion (ppt) reduced to non detect (less than 20 ppt) - ground water
  • 3.7 ppt reduced to 1 ppt - end of pipe effluent stream
