With Milestones Accomplished, MAR Systems Departs Akron Global Business Accelerator

Partnership provided invaluable resources for water purification firm

(SOLON, Ohio) January 22, 2010 – In less than two years, MAR Systems, a Cleveland-based water purification firm, has successfully moved through the Akron Global Business Accelerator (AGBA) and is poised for a prosperous 2010. When MAR Systems joined the AGBA in late 2008, it was able to take advantage of the networking opportunities and lab space provided by the small business incubator.

According to MAR Systems CEO Tony Lammers, the success his company experienced in 2009 would not have been possible without AGBA.

“They provided us with everything we needed,” Lammers said. “The networking opportunities really opened up a lot of doors. The people and equipment available during the past year put us exactly where we need to be for 2010.”

However, this is not the end of the partnership says AGBA Director of Operations and Business Development Terry Martell.

“We look at this as more of a graduation from one of the programs we offer,” Martell said. “We fully anticipate working with MAR Systems as they transition into the development of full-scale production of their water treatment solution.”

The production facility will allow MAR Systems to create larger quantities of their Sorbster™ media, an EPA co-developed technology that removes mercury, arsenic and other heavy metals from water streams.

“The word is getting out that a faster, cheaper, greener solution exists to a very complicated issue,” Lammers said. “We’re on the verge of changing the water treatment industry, and through the local support of the Accelerator we could be manufacturing our Sorbster™ media by early summer right here in Northeast Ohio.”

ABOUT MAR SYSTEMS:
MAR Systems is a privately owned, Ohio-based company that was established in 2005. As a result of the increasing presence of hazardous metal contaminants found in water, MAR Systems has developed patented, proprietary processes that remove mercury, arsenic and other heavy metals from industrial water streams through its Sorbster™ media. The Sorbster™ media works by chemisorbing the contaminants, creating a non-hazardous disposal option, and has demonstrated success that is 20,000 times faster than current technologies. MAR Systems’ process establishes a new standard in effectiveness, cost and simplicity. The world is demanding a more eco-friendly water treatment solution, and MAR Systems is answering the call with a FASTER, CHEAPER, GREENER water treatment solution.
